Business Improvement Districts around the UK may have different objectives, however one constant is the need for BIDs to deliver projects that can provide a return on your investment.

We have already published a lot of information about the Company formation, but now the BID has a Board, it is time to focus on what the BID will be doing and provide you with opportunities to get involved and provide feedback.

The Year 1 strategy will consist of 3 key areas

1.Promote

  • Increase out of season visits
  • Increase length of stay
  • Increase Spend
  • Promote levy-paying businesses

2.Protect

  • Champion green initiatives
  • Find solutions to reduce congestion

3.Support

  • Help reduce levy payers operating costs
  • Lobby for changes – i.e. business rates, parking

There are several projects currently under review which we will be announcing over the coming weeks and one which the Board has moved forward is the creation of a Yorkshire Coastal Road Route.

The idea was first suggested by businesses last year and after developing the concept, 3 Directors are now taking the lead on reviewing it in greater detail.

The creation of such a product could not only promote the entire Yorkshire Coast but also help drive out of season visitors and be one way of inspiring visitors to stay longer by matching their interests to multiple experiences.

Projects which will span the entire Yorkshire Coast will require working groups for set periods of time, so if you would like to contribute to the development of the Yorkshire Coastal Road Route, please contact us so we can discuss further.

Information about how you can apply for funds to develop activity within your own towns and villages will be made available within the next couple of weeks, but if you have an idea now, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the BID Team.
