Today, the Prime Minister has launched the Tourism Sector Deal, further increasing the UK’s attractiveness as a go-to destination.

  • The Sector Deal is a key part of the modern Industrial Strategy, which will deliver 10,000 apprenticeships for young people working in the sector, 130,000 new hotel rooms by 2025 and help the UK to become the most accessible destination for visitors with disabilities.
  • A new data hub will revolutionise how providers use booking data, so firms can better tailor their offer to visitors.
  • The tourism sector is worth £68 billion each year to the UK economy and employs around 1.6 million people across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Why this matters:

This Deal will be key in building a world-class experience economy, further increasing the UK’s attractiveness as a go-to destination – helping Britain prepare for 9 million more visitors a year by 2025.

With such positive steps being taken, we are looking forward to working with partners to increase visitor numbers and length of stay throughout the Yorkshire Coast!
