Hello, and welcome to the first of our monthly BID blog, where we will be overseeing this exciting opportunity of developing a Business Improvement District for the Yorkshire Coast. I’m Kerry, the BID Project Manager – I’ll be out and about along the coast with my team over the next six months, getting to know you and your business, and actively seeking your views about how the BID could bring you and your area the most benefit.
I am absolutely thrilled to be working on the Business Improvement District, having spent many years supporting local businesses on the coast to boost their sales and reputation through marketing. Having lived in the area for over 10 years, I can say that I am fiercely proud of the Yorkshire Coast’s unique offer as a tourism destination, which includes a national park, two areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and over 45 miles of stunning coastline. However, I also believe that “people make places”, and it is the thousands of businesses up and down the Yorkshire Coast that make it what it is today.
As a destination, we are now faced with a unique opportunity to shape the future of our area in the form of a Business Improvement District. This will allow businesses on the coast who want to make improvements to their trading environment to do so, as one collective body. Operating on the Yorkshire Coast is certainly not without its challenges, some of which will be specific to you as a business, and this is the time for you to let us know exactly what these challenges are, and how a BID could work to address them. Anything and everything that the BID achieves in the future will be based entirely upon your invaluable feedback.
So, I thank you in advance for your time – please do take ten minutes to fill out the survey by clicking here so we can hear your views – and I look forward to meeting you all during my work along the coast in the very near future.
